CRPF officer injured in grenade attack by militants

A CRPF officer was injured in a grenade attack by militants during a search operation in Anantnag district of south Kashmir today, police said.

CRPF sub-inspector D Shah received splinter injuries when the militants attacked his team at Arwani village near Bijbehara, 45 km from here, this evening, a police officer said.

He said a joint team of Police, Rashtriya Rifles and CRPF had launched a search operation in the village following specific information about presence of some militants.

As the security forces were busy searching the area, ultras hurled a grenade at them, he said, adding the injured was evacuated to hospital where his condition was stated to be "stable".
 

The officer said the search operation was going on to flush out the militants.
