Cyclist killed in accident, rail blockade in protest

A 32-year-old man was killed when he was knoed down by a vehicle triggering protest by locals who put up a rail blocked near Gurudaspur railway station in South 24 Pargana district today.
The incident occurred when Kalidas Purkait was moving to the railway station riding a bicycle which was dashed by a trekker killing the cyclist on the spot this morning, police said.
Angry locals blocked the rail track for sometime, which was later lifted, they said.
