A delegation of 24 girl students from Jammu and Kashmir today met Uttarakhand finance minister Indira Hridayesh at the Secretariat here.

The students are on a tour to explore the different facets of Uttarakhand's culture as part of the Army's 'Sadbhavana' mission.

Interacting with the girls Hridayesh told them how vital women are to the economy of Uttarakhand, which like Jammu and Kashmir had tremendous tourism potential and a similar geography.

She told the students about the rich cultural heritage of the hill state where the 'char dhams' are located and the Ganga and Yamuna rivers originate.

Major Garima Joshi, who led the delegation, said the girl students have so far visited Srinagar, Jammu and Chandigarh.
