A 40-year-old Delhi Police constable was mowed down by a speeding car near IGI Airport, police said today.
The incident was reported yesterday night when the police constable, identified as Ashok Kumar, was returning to his quarter in Malviya Nagar area by taking the Kapashera route, said police.
When he reached near the airport, a speeding Volkswagen Vento car hit his two-wheeler. Kumar was thrown off several meteres ahead and the driver allegedly ran over him, said police.

The driver then reversed the vehicle and fled the scene. Later, a passer-by called up the police control room and reported the matter. Kumar was rushed to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead, said police.
A case of rash driving and causing death by negligence has been registered in this connection.
The car was soon tracked. It was found to be registered in the name of a Karol Bagh-based businessman. The driver was identified as one Dilbagh Singh, who is suspected to be driving in an inebriated state, said police.
Singh was arrested and during interrogation he told the police that he was returning from a wedding in southwest Delhi's Kapashera area, police added.
