Delhi Tourism to organise South Asian Bazaar from Aug 25

Ajrakh block printing and leather work of Pakistan, Shibori tie-dye and indigo dying of Bangladesh, bandini and laheria from Rajasthan are some of the handicraft which would be showcased in South Asian Bazaar to be organised by Delhi Tourism here from August 25.

Craftsmen from Bhutan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan and Afghanistan will showcase their handicraft along with Indian craftsmen from Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Manipur, Kerala,, Rajasthan, Karnataka, Orissa and Kutch in the seven-day event, which would conclude on September 1, at Nature Bazaar near Chhatarpur Metro Station.

Kantha and Sozni embroidery, basketry and back strap weaving of Bhutan are some of the other attractions of the event, officials said.
 

Spread over almost 7,000 sq metres, the bazaar will offer a colourful platform to craftsman to showcase their unique skills in handicraft and handloom, they said.

Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit will inaugurating the Bazaar.
