A 21-year-old college student in Chirala town of Prakasam district died while another student was battling for life after both allegedly attempted suicide over denial of examination hall-tickets for non-payment of fees.

D Vijay Krishna and C Satish, second-year students of a polytechnic, consumed poisonous substance after the college management refused to give them hall-tickets because they had not paid fees, police said.

The authorities, reportedly, wanted them to give a written undertaking that they would clear the fee dues if they wanted to take the exam. The two then left the exam hall and attempted suicide on the college premises.

While Vijay died, Satish's condition was critical, police said.

A purported suicide note found on the spot blamed a person called Venubabu, a member of the college management.
