A district court today sent three doctors to jail for three years for filing a wrong postmortem report which suggested that a girl had died of hanging when she was strangled.
Dr S P Singh, Dr A K Agrawal and Dr A K Sharma were then posted at the district hospital in Kheri where the first postmortem was conducted.
However, the case was handed over to the CB-CID and a fresh postmortem was carried out by a team of four doctors from Lucknow.
The second postmortem established ante-mortem strangulation, which suggested murder instead of suicide as the likely cause of death.
Later, an FIR was lodged against the doctors by a CB-CID inspector.
A charge sheet was filed against them in the court of chief judicial magistrate in August 2014.
