The Ministry Of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) has approved only 11 per cent of the 857 proposals sent by Assam during the past five years, the state assembly was informed today.
In a written reply to a query by BJP MLA Prasanta Phukan, Assam Planning and Development Minister Tanka Bahadur Rai said the government submitted a total of 857 proposals from 2009-10 to 2013-14.
The government sent the highest 279 proposals in 2009-10, followed by 223 proposals in 2012-13. The least number of 82 proposals were submitted in 2011-12. In 2010-11 and 2013-14, the state government submitted 107 and 166 proposals respectively, he said.

Of all the submissions, 232 proposals worth Rs 2,634.79 crore were retained by DoNER Ministry.
The state government then submitted detailed project reports for 198 proposals. Finally the central ministry approved only 97 proposals of a total Rs 964.13 crore, he said.
Rai, however, did not elaborate on the kind of projects that were sanctioned.
