A double murder took place in Morigaon-Nagaon border where a mother and her daughter were killed and another daughter seriously injured in the wee hours today.
According to the police, a group of assailants entered the house of one Rongmai Devi (42 years) at Besapati village within the limits of Raha Police Station at around 1 AM and attacked her and her two daughters with lethal weapons.
Rongmai and her younger daughter Rekhamoni Devi (13) were killed on the spot, while her elder daughter Bobita Devi, 21, was seriously injured.
Stating that Bobita has been admitted to Gauhati Medical College Hospital, the police said a case has been registered and investigations were on.
The motive behind the murder was yet to be ascertained, the police said.
