Police are on the lookout for two persons, including a 16-year-old boy, who allegedly tried to rape an eight-year-old girl near here.
The girl was playing in front of her house last evening when K.Vijay (21) and the boy lured the child to an isolated place and allegedly tried to rape her, police said.
When the girl started screaming, passers-by rushed to the spot and the duo fled.
The child's mother lodged a complaint with police following which a search has been launched for the two persons, police added.
