Drea De Matteo to star in 'Agents of SHIELD'

'Desperate Housewives' star Drea De Matteo has joined Marvel's Agents of SHIELD as a new villain.

Marvel has confirmed that the 43-year-old actress will play Karla Faye Gideon in an upcoming episode, reported Variety.

Karla is "a gifted woman with a grudge against SHIELD who ends up joining forces with Skye's father, Cal".

Executive Producer and Head of Marvel Television Jeph Loeb said, "We're thrilled to have Drea join us as yet another great villain to challenge our cast. We relished the opportunity to work with her in such a menacing role."

It was announced earlier this week that Jaime Alexander will return to the show as Lady Sif from Thor.
