DySP in ACB net for taking bribe

A senior police officer from Konkan range in Sindhudurg district has been arrested for allegedly demanding and receiving a bribe of Rs 20 lakhs, ACB said here today.

DySP Vitthal Jadhav was caught late last night by Thane ACB sleuths after they laid a trap at a hotel in Sindhudurg.

Jadhav had demanded the sum from one Malwankar to settle a case filed against his brother and sister in Kalyan court here by a woman called Sheela Satawkar.

According to sources, the officer, who had only few months of service left promised Malwankar of an out-of court settlement with Satawkar if he paid the bribe amount.
 

An offence under Prevention of Corruption Act was registered and Jadhav was arrested.
