The cash-strapped East Delhi Municipal Corporation has increased the salary of daily wage sanitation workers in the range of Rs 500 to Rs 2,000.
The wages have been increased by up to Rs 500 to Rs 2,000 for different categories of sanitation workers roped in as daily wagers by the civic body, a senior EDMC official said.
The increase will be from the existing Rs 400 to Rs 910 per month to part-time sanitation workers working for one hour daily, from Rs 800 to Rs 1,820 for those working for 2 hours and from Rs 1,200 to Rs 2,730 for three hours, he said.

Those working for 4 hours daily will get Rs 3,640 per month instead of Rs 1,600, the official added.
A delegation of Sarva Mazdoor Kalyan Morcha met Lata Gupta, EDMC standing committee chairman, and thanked her for the hike.
