Educationist B M Hegde honoured with Nayudamma Gold Medal

Educationist and former Vice-Chancellor of Manipal University Professor B M Hegde was today conferred the prestigious Dr Y Nayudamma Gold Medal for this year.

Hegde, a Padma Bhushan awardee and cardiologist, was presented the award during the National Seminar on 'Frontiers in Science and Technology' organised by Telangana Academy of Sciences at National Geophysical Research Institute here.

Department of Science and Technology (DST) Secretary Prof Ashutosh Sharma delivered the Y Nayudamma Memorial Lecture on 'Delights of Doing Research: Some Personal Lessons from Translational Nanoscience'.

The award was instituted in 1986 in the memory of global leather scientist and former Director General of CSIR, Yelavarthy Nayudamma. The award is given annually to persons chosen for their significant contributions to the development of science and technology in the country.
