Elderly couple found dead with throats slit in UP

An elderly couple was found dead with their throats slit in the old city area here, police said on Friday.

The bodies of Hilal Ahmad, 70, and his wife Bilkis, 65, were found by the neighbours in their rented house Thursday night, they said.

Ahmed, who owned a chikankari (an embroidery form) store, and his wife were living in the house in the Saadatganj area for over 30 years. Their only daughter, Sehar, lives in Australia, police said.

The couple's throats had been slit with sharp-edged weapons and it appears that acquaintances were involved, they said.

Further investigation is on, police said.
