The district authorities has today cancelled the licence of fair price shop in a village here after a 75-year-old woman was allegedly beaten to death over her objection at being given less ration, police said today.

The victim, Ashia, had gone to get ration from the fair price shop in Firozabad village on April 6. She had objected to being given less ration, following which, the accused owner and his relatives allegedly confronted her and beat her to death, Circle Officer Mohd Rizwan said.

A postmortem report pointed to head injuries as the primary cause of death, he said.

The accused were still at large and a search was underway to nab them, Rizwan added.
