Executive Engineer caught accepting bribe

An executive engineer, posted at municipal corporation here, was today caught red handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from a contractor.

R K Sharma had demanded the money from contractor Mukesh Bansal for allegedly releasing a work order to him that he had withheld, police said.

The vigilance department and a police team led by Inspector Bhupendra Sharma along with duty magistrate Suresh Kumar caught him red-handed while taking the bribe from Bansal at his residence, they said.

The police have registered a case under the Prevention of Corruption Act against the accused.
