Battery major Exide Industries today posted a 16.92 per cent rise in net profit at Rs 181.32 crore for the second quarter ended September 30, 2016.
The company had posted a net profit of Rs 155.08 crore for the same period of previous fiscal.
Net sales went up by 10.64 per cent to Rs 2,174.55 crore for the quarter, as against Rs 1,965.39 crore during the same period of 2015-16, Exide Industries said in a filing to the BSE.

The company's board, which met today, has declared interim dividend of Rs 1.60 per equity share of Re 1 each for the financial year 2016-17.
Exide Industries stock closed at Rs 202.10, down 0.66 per cent, on the BSE.
