Fake currency found in Axis Bank's currency chest in Indore

Police have registered a case against unidentified persons after counterfeit currency worth about Rs 9 lakh was found in the Axis Bank's 'currency chest' here over the last six months.

Police said over the last six months fake currency in the denomination of Rs 100, 500 and 1,000 totalling Rs 8.74 lakh was found in the currency chest (where banknotes and rupee coins are stocked).

Probe started after the bank filed a complaint, police said.
