Fake degree racket busted in Gurgaon, 4 held

The Gurgaon Police's Crime Branch had arrested four persons, including two women, for allegedly preparing and selling fake certificates, mark sheets and degrees.

A raid was conducted and Naveen, Mohammad Mustak, Anushka and Poonam were nabbed from an office in New Plaza Market Building in Civil Lines area.

"The four were selling fake degrees and certificates at an institute. They issued fake degrees in many courses and universities," Gurgaon Police ACP (PRO) Manish Sehgal said.

They used to charge Rs 10,000-20,000 for a certificate/diploma and up to Rs 50,000 for graduate and post graduate degrees.

Hundreds of fake degrees and marks sheets, paper roll, a printer, six stamps, a laptop and a scanner were also seized from the institute.
 

A case has been registered against the arrested persons at Civil Lines police station. Naveen, the mastermind of the racket, and Mustak have been sent to a nine-day police custody by a local court.
