A man was shot dead and his son injured in Hayatnagar here allegedly by their relatives due to family rivalry, police said here today.
Asrar (45) was shot dead by his maternal uncle Nisar and his family members when he was coming out of a mosque after namaz in Maubhud village last night, K K Tiwari, incharge of Hayatnagar police station, said.
Asrar's son Naeem (28) was injured in the firing and was admitted to a hospital in Moradabad, Tiwari added.
An FIR has been lodged against five persons, including Nisar, Tiwari said.
