FDA seizes mangoes allegedly ripened by using chemicals

A team of Nashik's Food and Drugs Administration (FDA) raided a stall in Sharadchandra Pawar Fruit Market yesterday and seized a stock of mangoes worth Rs 20,000, FDA sources said here today.
After a tip-off that mangoes were being allegedly ripened by using illegal chemicals like calcium carbide, FDA officials raided shop number 72 in the market, seized the stock and registered offences against one Kamruddin Bhagwan.
