The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on Thursday said its fifth stand-alone Aadhaar Seva Kendra (ASK) has become operational in Hisar.
Till now, five ASKs have become operational and two more will be operational by next week in Bhopal and Chennai, a statement said.
Out of the five ASKs which have become operational on dry-run basis, two are located in Delhi, and one each in Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh and Agra, Uttar Pradesh, UIDAI said.
Besides, Patna and Guwahati ASKs would also be made operational by the first week in September, according to the statement.
"This is part of the UIDAI's plan to open 114 such centres in 53 cities across the country for providing hassle-free Aadhaar enrolment and update services to the people with prior appointment. UIDAI intends to complete setting up of all the 114 Aadhaar Seva Kendras by the end of the year 2019," UIDAI Chief Executive Officer Ajay Bhushan Pandey said.
These ASKs will help people in adjoining areas to avail Aadhaar enrolment and update related services in a hassle-free, secure and convenient manner, he added.
These centres function along with over 35,000 Aadhaar Kendra currently being run in banks, post offices, BSNL customer centres, and other designated state government offices, he said.
