Five taken into custody for trying to smuggle red sanders

Five persons were today taken into custody at the airport here for allegedly trying to smuggle red sanders to Hong Kong.

The five persons, hailing from different parts of the state, were taken into custody by the Customs Department when they tried to smuggle red sanders in five suitcases, airport sources said.

They were later handed over to Forest Department.

Red sanders are highly endangered tree species.
