Preliminary hearing into the Pagar police firing incident was completed today while one person was arrested and four separate FIRs were filed against several people, including senior NTPC officials.

"We have already completed preliminary hearing, and will visit the place of occurrence tomorrow to look into the reasons behind the police firing (that killed one person injuring five others)," Chhotanagpur Divisional Commissioner Nitin Madan Kulkarni said here.

Kulkarni, one of the two members of the inquiry team set up by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, said the team would submit its report to Soren on August one.

The other member of the team is Inspector General of Police (Bokaro range) Murari Lal Meena.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Satish Kumar Jha said four separate FIRs were been lodged with the Keredari police station in connection with the July 23 incident in Keradari block.

The son of the deceased Kesar Mahto, filed an FIR against the General Manager, NTPC, Ravindra Singh Rathi, Assistant General Managers P K Upadhyay and B K Roy and other officials, accusing them of instigating contractors, which allegedly lead to police firing on the villagers, Jha said.

Another FIR was lodged against contractor Pradeep Singh, his sons Vikash and Abhishek, and others for allegedly attacking the villagers with lethal weapon, he said, adding Vikash was arrested in connection with the case.

The third FIR was lodged by police constable Rana Pratap Singh against villagers for allegedly trying to kill the police and attempting to snatch their firearms while they were returning along with arrested Abhishek, the police official said.

He said the fourth FIR was lodged by contractors Pintu Singh and Pradeep Singh against one Kamlesh Mahto and other villagers for allegedly inciting the mob to attack the police.

The opposition created a din in the state assembly over the police firing and other incidents when Governor Syed Ahmed was addressing the House yesterday.
