Four killed, 5 injured in road mishap in Doda

Fourpersons, including a woman, were killed and five others got critically injured, when their vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a 150 feet deep gorge near Khellani in Doda district today.

According to eyewitnesses, the vehicle driver lost control on the sloppy curve and it skidded off the road and fell 150 feet down hill after several somersaults.

"A Tata sumo which was on its way from Gurdaspur (Punjab) to Gandoh village, met with an accident at 7 AM near Khellani.

"Locals along with police men immediately reached the spot and evacuated all the 9 passengers from the badly damaged vehicle and shifted them to District Hospital Doda," said DySP Headquarters Doda, Iftkhar Ahmed.
 

Doctors declared four passengers as brought dead while 5 critically injured are under going treatment at the District Hospital, the DySP said.

He said that perhaps the driver was tired due to lack of sleep and lost control on a sharp curve resulting in the fatal accident.

The deceased have been identified as Haji Ali, Hashim Din, Khadim Hussain and Aasiya Begum while the injured were identified as Talib Hussain, Hassan Din, Shahida Bano, Liyakat Ali and Hanifa Bano.
