Four of robbers' gang nabbed, two still at large

Police have arrested one of the robbers who struck at a jewellery shop in Nashik on Sunday.

While three members of the gang had been nabbed by Thane police at Padgha in the district on the same day, one person was arrested last night.

Sub-inspector S M Waghchowre said the six-member gang looted Sagar Sahany Jewellers within the limits of Upanagar police station in Nashik on Sunday afternoon after firing in the air to scare off the staff.

They fled towards Thane in a car with a booty worth Rs 5 lakh, but police team led by PSI Waghchowre nabbed three of them at a petrol pump at Padgha while three others managed to escape.
 

Nashik police nabbed another member last night, while search was on for the remaining two men.

The arrested accused were identified as Seshnath S Upadyaya (42) from Basti of Uttar Pradesh, Murli Jillappa Poojari (32) of Mangalore, Hyderali Gappu Shaikh (38) of Kon in Bhiwandi and Metab Nailaki Khan (34) from Shivshai Mhada colony in Mumbai.
