Gang of currency snatchers busted

Bihar Police today busted a

gang which robbed people by diverting their attention scattering currency notes and thereby snatching purse or valuables.

KIngpin Karthik, a resident of Tamil Nadu was arrested from the posh Boring Road area in the state capital while trying to snatch a bag from an unsuspecting person sitting in a car. Another accomplice of his managed to escape.

Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manu Maharaj said, "A special team was collecting intelligence on the gang for some time now. We got information today that it was active in Boring Road area, and accordingly positioned our personnel and succeeded in nabbing its kingpin."
 

Maharaj said the team saw Karthik and another person approach a car near a bank. They scattered a few currency notes of Rs 10 denomination on the ground and asked the person sitting in the vehicle about it, who started looking at the notes.

Police officials said there are around 10-12 persons in his gang. They used to carefully survey the area where they would strike and ensured that the bag had valuables.

The police said that the remaining members of the gang have been identified.
