Gang relieves family of Rs 26 lakh worth of gold jewellery

A ten-member gang allegedly robbed an employee of the Electricity Board and his family of 125 sovereigns of gold jewellery valued at around Rs 26 lakh after tying them up at nearby Tirumangalam, police said today.
The gang entered into the house after scaling the compound wall and broke open the back door late last night.
They threatened the family at gunpoint, took the keys, tied them up and decamped with the booty, police said.

The neighbours rushed to the house on hearing the shouts of the family, untied them and informed the police.
The employee said, the gang also took away a gas cylinder and a stalibliser of an air-conditioner unit.
