Press Trust of India Ghaziabad
Samajwadi Party national general secretary Trilok Tyagi today resigned from the party saying it has become bankrupt and will not be able to stop the "BJP storm".

Tyagi, who has fought Lok Sabha elections thrice, said that the Samajwadi Party would not be able to take on BJP from Ghaziabad and he was resigning from the party to stop the BJP storm.

On the removal of former party district president Rashid Malik, Tyagi told reporters at a briefing that SP has become bankrupt.

Speculations are rife that Tyagi might support Congress candidate from Ghaziabad, Raj Babbar, but he refused to make any comment regarding the matter.

Babbar will take on former Army chief, V K Singh who has been fielded by BJP, and Shazia Ilmi of Aam Aadmi Party for the Ghaziabad Lok Sabha seat. SP is yet to officially announce its candidate for this constituency.
