A 14-year-old girl was today charred to death after she was trapped inside a car which caught fire after collision with a truck at Kamrej taluka along NH-8 in Surat district, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Muskan Parmar, a resident of Paalgam area of Surat city.

According to Kamrej police, she was travelling with her parents Piyush Parmar and Jolly Parmar when the accident took place.
After meeting their relatives in Ahmedabad, the trio were coming back to Surat in their car, said Police Sub Inspector of Kamrej D R Vasava.
"When they reached near Dhoran-Pardi village at around 2:30am, a truck, which was going ahead of their car, suddenly took a right turn, giving no chance to Parmar to apply breaks. As a result, their car rammed into the truck and ruptured the truck's diesel tank," said Vasava.
Due to the impact, diesel started spilling from the tank and the car caught fire. Though Parmar and his wife came out of the car before flames reached them, Muskan failed to do so as one of her foot got stuck in the car. Within moments, fire engulfed the entire car and some parts of the truck, said Vasava.
"Despite her best efforts, she could not come out in time. Though villagers and her parents tried their best, the raging fire and an explosion in car's CNG tank foiled all their attempts to rescue her. She was eventually charred alive in the car," added Vasava.
Later, her burnt body was pulled out from the car wreckage after the fire was doused.
Kamrej police have lodged a case of causing death through rash driving against the unidentified truck driver, who fled the spot after the accident, the SI said.
