A 22 year old girl was allegedly murdered by some unidentified persons at her residence in Kalyan in the district, police said today.
The alleged murder took place in the early hours on Thursday, police said adding that accused decamped with a mobile and gold ornaments of the victim worth around Rs 1,60,000.
The victim was identified as Priya Daravade, they said.
"In the wee hours on April 14, some unidentified people entered the house by breaking the grill of the door and stabbed the girl who was sleeping in the bedroom. The girl died on the spot and the assailants decamped with the valuables kept at home," an official release said.
Kadakpada police have registered offences under sections 302, 457 and 380 of the IPC against the unidentified accused and a hunt is on for him, police said.
