GM sales decline 43%

Company had sold 8,500 units in the same month of last year

General Motors India today reported 42.76% decline in May sales at 4,865 units.

It had sold 8,500 units in the same month of last year, General Motors India said in a statement.

May 2014 sales include 1,716 units of Beat, 1,076 units of Tavera and 934 units of Chevrolet Enjoy.

General Motors India Vice President, P Balendran said: "The automobile industry has been passing through challenging times for the past two years as the general economic and consumer sentiments have failed to pick up.

"Going forward, we hope to see some improvement in the market in the coming months with a new decisive government in place.
