Governor asks Darbhanga VC to resign

Bihar Governor Ramnath Kovind today directed Vice-Chancellor of the Darbhanga Sanskrit University to tender resignation after finding a shortcoming in the mandatory condition for appointment to that post.

The Governor's order came on finding that Vice Chancellor of Kameshwar Singh Darbhanga Sankrit University - Devnarayan Jha did not had required 10 years of experience at the time of appointment, a statement from Raj Bhavan said here.

The 10 year experience of professor is mandatory for appointment as VC as per section 11(1) of Bihar State University Act, 1976.

The Governor, who is also Chancellor of Universities, in his order said that if the said VC did not submit resignation in such condition as per the 1976 University Act it would be contoured that he has resigned.
 

Accordingly, the post of VC of the Darbhanga Sanskrit University has fallen vacant in the wake of today's order from the Governor.
