West Bengal governor M K Narayanan today showered praise on the functioning of the West Bengal government under Mamata Banerjee's chief ministership in his customary speech at the start of budget session.
Starting from law and order situation to gender equality, Narayanan expressed satisfaction in the functioning of all government departments.
Referring to Jangalmahal, he said that the government had been able to usher in peace and development in the region.

Narayanan said that the government had also laid stress on development of infrastructure and educational facilities, creation of employment opportunities and social security measures.
On Darjeeling, Narayanan said that the hill station witnessed record number of tourists during 2011 and 2012 and the government wished to bring back development to the hills.
On industry, agriculture, housing, education, sports and other fields, Narayanan said the government was active in improving all the concerned departments.
