Govt approves setting up of paper mill in Amethi district

Government today approved setting up of Jagdishpur Paper Mills Ltd (JPML), a green field pulp and paper project, in Amethi district of Uttar Pradesh at a cost of Rs 3,650 crore.

JPML will be set up at Jagdishpur, in Amethi district and the project will be implemented in two phases, an official statement said after the Union Cabinet gave its approval for the same.

"Jagdishpur Paper Mills Limited will venture into production of coated/uncoated printing and writing paper," it said.

The mill will reduce the gap between production and import of writing and printing paper as well as act as a check on prices.
 

Apart from direct employment to 900 persons, indirect employment will also be generated which will spur gainful economic activities in the vicinity, the release added.
