Bihar Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi today said that his government was on course to fulfil his predecessor Nitish Kumar's promise not to seek vote in 2015 without improving power situation in the state.
"Today we can say 2015 is still to come. There is one year time for Assembly election in the state," Manjhi told the Second Foundation Day ceremony of the State Power Holding Company.
"When we came to power in 2005, power supply in the state was 600 MW which today has risen to 3,500 MW," Manjhi said.

"We have set a target to increase it to 5,000 MW in the coming days," he said and exuded confidence that the state government would be able to meet the target.
He said his government's priority was to provide power in every household in rural areas for spurring growth in the field of agriculture and animal husbandry.
Manjhi stressed on launching a campaign to create awareness among people about timely payment of energy bill for availing power supply.
Power Minister Bijendra Prasad Yadav emphasised on reducing transmission loss.
"There is a wide gap between transmission and distribution systems which need to be bridged," Yadav said.
The CM honoured Chairman of Power Grid Corporation of India R N Naik and Chairman of NTPC Arun Rai Chaudhary.
