Guar seed prices gained 0.71 per cent to Rs 4,257 per quintal in futures trade today on raising of holdings by participants in line with upbeat physical market cues.
Market players attributed the upmove in prices to thin supplies of guar seed from growing belts amid better offtake by guar gum makers in spot markets.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, guar seed delivery for the most active second contract April month rose Rs 30 or 0.71 per cent to Rs 4,257 per quintal, having an open interest of 1,38,900 lots.
The delivery of the immediate contract March month also gained Rs 23.50 or 0.55 per cent to Rs 4,258 per quintal, with an open interest of 27,150 lots.
