Hardcore Maoist Ramdev Yadav arrested in Bihar

Two Maoists, including Ramdev Yadav who was carrying a reward of Rupees five lakh on his head by Jharkhand government, were arrested from Gaya district in Bihar today, a police officer said.

Acting on a tip off, security forces comprising CRPF, STF and local police raided a hideout in Barachatti police station area and nabbed the hardcore Maoist, identified as Ramdev Yadav alias Baba Ramdev, who was wanted in over 50 incidents of naxal violence in Bihar and Jharkhand, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Manu Maharaj said.

Yadav, a self-styled 'sub-zonal commander' of the proscribed outfit, CPI(Maoist), was carrying a reward of Rupees five lakh on his head by the Jharkhand government, the SSP said.
 

The ultra is a native of Khirgaddha village in Chatra district of Jharkhand, Maharaj said.

A country-made pistol, five ammunition and two mobile phones were seized from Yadav's possession.

The security forces also arrested another Maoist, Indradev Yadav, a native of Nawada district, from a place under Fatehpur police station area, the SSP added.
