Haryana government today approved the proposal of Gram Panchayat Sotai, Block Ballabgarh, district Faridabad to gift a residential plot to the family of a soldier who was killed in an anti-militancy operation in Jammu and Kasmir.
A state cabinet meeting, presided over by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, decided that 200 square yards will be gifted to Memwati, widow of Shaheed Naik Raghuvir Singh, who attained martyrdom in 'Operation Rakshak in Jammu and Kashmir-2000'.
The value of the said land is Rs 70 lakh per acre, an official spokesman said.
Haryana Government has decided to implement Ujawal Discoms Assurance Yojana (UDAY), which aims at reducing debt burden of DISCOMs (state power distribution companies), reduce cost of power and losses to the level of 15 per cent in next three years and to financially turnaround the distribution companies.
It was observed that out of Rs 34,600 crore debt as on September 30, 2015, Rs 25, 950 crore would be taken over by the state government over next five years.
For this purpose, in lieu of loans taken from financial institutions by the DISCOMs, the state government will issue bonds which would carry much lower interest rate compared to the loans from the financial institutions.
Under the scheme, a detailed mechanism has also been stipulated by which the DISCOMs will take time-bound action to reduce losses and improve their efficiency.
A monitoring committee under the Chairmanship of the Chief Secretary would be constituted to review the targets achieved by the DISCOMs. The Committee will meet once in two months, the spokesman said.
With implementation of this scheme, not only the cost of financing of the distribution companies is expected to come down but it would also help in improving their efficiency with the ultimate objective to provide 24X7 power to all consumers.
With a view to conduct a centralized combined counseling
for admission to Post Graduate (PG) courses like MD, MS, MDS and PG Diploma in all the medical and dental institutions including those under private and deemed universities, and to rationalize the fee charged by private and deemed universities in the State, the Cabinet approved a draft ordinance to amend the Haryana Private Health Sciences Educational Institutions (Regulation of Admission, Fixation of Fee and Maintenance of Educational Standards) Act, 2012.
As a result of the amendment, all private Health Educational Institutions including deemed and private universities and courses being run by them in the state shall be included under the ambit of the Act.
Henceforth, all admissions to all under graduate and post graduate courses in medical, dental, Ayurveda etc. In all government, government aided, unaided private institutions, institutes under deemed and private universities will be on the basis of UG NEET/PG NEET through the process of centralised combined counselling conducted by the State Government, he said.
The Cabinet approved the draft of the Road Infrastructure Protection Act, 2017 for protection of roads constructed and maintained by Haryana Public Works (Building and Roads) Department, except national highways declared under National Highway Act, 1956.
Under the Act, the roads constructed by the Public Works Department would be protected from illegal encroachments and damaged by individuals or community.
The Act would provide clearly defined rules to be followed by competent authority and would help in implementation of a systematic approach for better utilisation and management of road infrastructure and enhancement of security.
Structures such as rain shelters, lay byes, bus lanes, public conveniences, parks and open spaces located on Government land along the road would also be covered under the Act.
