"Helmets for pillion riders should be made compulsory. In Jaipur it is compulsory and we would examine it for other cities also," Gehlot told reporters here today.
After inaugurating the state-level road safety week, he said that the helmets have saved many lives in road accidents and people should understand its importance.
"Government makes rules and regulations in the interest of public. There was a time when people used to make an issue for not wearing helmet but when our government made it compulsory, people accepted it because helmets saved many lives in accidents," he said.
The chief minister also warned the people against drunk driving to avoid road accidents.
