Heroin worth Rs 35 cr, ammunition seized

BSF today seized seven kg heroin with a street value of Rs 35 crore, an automatic imported pistol, a magazine and five rounds of ammunition near Border Out Post (BOP) Rajatal in Amritsar sector.

The seized drugs and ammunition were smuggled from Pakistan to India, BSF DIG R P S Jaswal said.

BSF troops observed suspicious movement of some people who crossed International Boundary from Pakistan during wee hours, he said, adding that when the border guarding force personnel challenged them they opened fire.

BSF jawans then returned the fire, but the smugglers managed to escape under the cover of darkness, he said.
