Hotel damaged, over 24 huts gutted in Kashmir valley

Several rooms of a hotel in famous hill resort Gulmarg were damaged while over 24 huts were gutted in the summer capital in separate fire incidents in Kashmir Valley today.

A fire broke out in Kings Lay Hotel in Gulmarg in Baramulla district damaging 21 rooms, a police spokesman said.

An employee of the hotel suffered burn injuries and was rushed to hospital for treatment, he said.

The cause of the blaze, which was extinguished after a few hours, was yet to be ascertained.

In another fire incident, over two dozen residential huts and some houses were gutted in Chattabal area in interior Srinagar this afternoon, a fire department official said.
 

No one was injured in the blaze which erupted at 3:35 pm in a hut and spread to adjoining wooden structures.

As many as 24 fire tenders were pressed into service to put out the fire, the official said.

The cause of the fire is being ascertained, he said.
