The Centre has given its nod for the revival of the State Administrative Tribunal in Shimla, which was abolished by the erstwhile BJP government in 2010.

The Union Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions has agreed in principle for setting up of the tribunal under the provisions of the Administrative Tribunal Act, 1985, Himachal Pradesh Principal Secretary (Personnel) S K V S Negi said here today.

Negi said a written communication in this regard has been received and approval has been accorded for two posts of administrative members and one post of judicial member for the proposed HP Administrative Tribunal.

The state government proposes to invite applications for appointment to the posts of members as per the qualifications laid down under Section 6 (2) of the Administrative Tribunal Act. As per the Act, the term of office of a member will be for five years subject to maximum age of 65 years and the condition of service of members will be the same as applicable to judges of the High Court, Negi said.
