IAF personnel killed after hit by bullet of service revolver

An IAF personnel died after being hit by the bullet of his own service revolver at Salua in West Midnapore district today.

Superintendent of Police Bharati Ghosh said the personnel was believed to have fired at himself from his firearm inside his room in the IAF staff quarter this afternoon.

The staff quarter is not much far from the IAF base at Kalaikunda.

The sergeant V Singh, aged 35, was alone in his room when the incident occured, another senior police official said quoting eyewitness accounts.

Singh was reportedly having some family problem, the official said.

IAF sources could not be contacted.
