In hurry to offer prayer, man bites ear of devotee; held

In a bizarre incident, a 40-year- old man bit a devotee's ear in his bid to enter into core area of a temple here to offer prayer following which he was arrested, police said today.

Shivaji Nana Salunke alias Yuvraj was one among scores of devotees who had quequed up at the Swayambhu Amarnath here yesterday on festival Mahashivratri to offer prayer. However, he jumped off the queue and tried to enter the inner sanctum with his footwears on, Thane Police PRO Gajanan Kabdule said.

People standing in the queue objected him for entering the sanctum wearing footwears and started shouting, he then started manhandling with fellow devotees, the PRO said.
 

In midst of the scuffle, Shivaji bit a 70-year-old man, Baburao Patil's left ear and fingers. He also tried to manhandle on duty policeman Tausifkhan Khan and also hurled abuses at him.

Later a complaint was lodged by the policeman against Shivaji under relevant IPC sections and was subsequently, arrested yesterday.
