India names 44 lifters for Commonwealth Championships

In the absence of Ravi Kumar and Soniya, who would represent the country in the July 27-August 12 London Games, veteran Monika Devi will spearhead the Indian challenge in the senior category in the Commonwealth event.

In the last edition in Cape Town, South Africa last year, India had won a whopping 110 medals, including 53 gold.

The Team:

Senior Men: 56kg: Ranjit Kalgonda Chinchwade; 62kg: Rustam Sarang, D Senthamizh Selvan; 69kg: Namechand Sunil Kumar; 77kg: Sivalingam Sathish Kumar; 94kg: Chandrakant Dadu Mali; 105kg: M Syamlal, Victor Abilash Christopher.

Senior Women: 48kg: Kh Sanjita Chanu; 53kg: Tikina Gopal, K Venkatalakshmi; 58kg: Minati Sethi, N Sumanbala Devi; 63kg: Rajwant Kaur; 69kg: Laishram Monika Devi.

 

Junior Men: 56kg: Karthik M S; 62kg: Achyutananda Sahoo, S Manivannan; 77kg: Vikas Thakur; 94kg: Karandeep Singh; M R Chaitanya; 105kg: Nitin Singh Rawat; +105kg: Himanshu Kumar Chang.

Junior Women: 53kg: K Venkatalakshmi; 58kg: N Sumanbala Devi; 63kg: Rakhi Halder, Jasvir Kaur; 69kg: O Geeta Devi; 75kg: P Sushmita Singh; +75kg: A Siromani.
