India will construct a three-storey library for the Nepal Academy as a tribute to poet Bhanubhakta Acharya, who for the first time translated the epic Ramayana into Nepali language.
The announcement was made by the Indian Ambassador Jayanta Prasad while speaking at a function at the Indian Library here to mark the 200th anniversary of the great poet Bhanubhakta Acharya.
It was organised by the Indian Embassy and BP Koirala India-Nepal Foundation.

Bhanubhakta had translated Ramayana, the Hindu epic, into Nepali language from the original Sanskrit script some 150 years ago.
Speaking on the occasion Ambassador Prasad said that Bhanubhakta played an important role in cementing cultural and linguistic ties between Nepal and India.
He also informed that Bhanubhakta's birth anniversary is being celebrated this week in Darjeeling, Sikkim, Dehradun, Assam and Mysore, besides in Kathmandu.
During the programme renowned poets of Nepal recited their poems in Nepali and Hindi languages.
