Press Trust of India Kochi
Bullish about the success of India's first solar energy-run airport, Union ministers Prakash Javadekar and Piyush Goyal today said the successful green energy generation system at Kochi airport could be followed at other airports and railway stations to make them energy neutral.

Goyal said discussions will be held to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious plan to make every railway station and airport in the country renewable energy-dependent.

He was interacting with reporters after visiting the solar field at the airport.

"I am quite confident that this message will go to all the airports in India and we shall make an effort, encouraged by the good work done by Kochi International airport."

Hailing the CIAL model, Javadekar said the successful initiative will help reduce carbon emission.

Cochin International Airport Limited, the country's first airport built under PPP model, has become the first airport in the world to completely operate on solar power.
