INHS Asvini, located in Mumbai, has been chosen as the best Command Hospital of the Army by the Defence Ministry.
Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar presented the 'Raksha Mantri's Trophy' and citation to the Commandant of the facility, which comes under the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) category, here today.
"The Command Hospital (Southern Command), Pune and Command Hospital (Northern Command) Udhampur were jointly adjudged the second best Service Hospitals," said an official statement.

At the award ceremony, Parrikar said the ministry was putting constant efforts to modernise the medical establishments of the armed forces.
The function was also attended by the Army chief General Bipin Rawat and several senior officers from the three Services and the Ministry of Defence.
The 'Raksha Mantri's Trophy' was instituted in 1989 to create a healthy competition among the Command Hospitals of the Army and its equivalent hospitals in the Navy and Air Force, the statement added.
